Electric Filed Intensity of the Lightning Strikes on Lightning Air Terminals Installed on Building StructuresLightning activities are growing up rapidly with global warming. It can affect anything on the earth. All the constructed buildings need proper protection from the harmful effect of lightning. Lightning strike points on different geometrical shapes have been investigated. Lightning strike distribution of different building structure is very important to be studied. In order to analyse the maximum effect of lightning strike pattern is obtained of different air terminals installed on scaled building structures. High voltage impulse generator is used in order to get the impulse voltage. Different numbers of air terminals have been applied to all the shapes in order to see the lightning strike points. Electric field is obtained in order to see its minimum and maximum effect on the entire building structure. Interestingly the phenomenon of lightning air terminal bypasses has been proved in this paper.

Lightning Effect on Scaled Protected and un-Protected Building Structures and the Air Terminal BypassesLightning strikes affect the building structures by producing high electric field on the surface and around the building structure. Lightning air terminal is a traditional enemy of the thunder storm as it captures the lightning flashes. Effect of lightning flash on the building structure when the lightning air terminal was not installed and when it was installed on different building structure was studied in this paper. Similarly most of the time Lightning Air Terminal (LAT) bypasses take palce on different building structures and thus a lot of building structures get damage. The phenomenon of bypasses was also studied in this paper. When thunder storm strikes a building the electric field effect is propagated throughout the building surface and it damages the entire building. When the air terminal is places on the corners/edges it captures the lightning flashes on certain points and discharges it into the ground and the building remains safe. A Comparative Analysis of External Lightning Strike Protection Area Determined by Using Protection Angle and Rolling Sphere Methods2023 •
This paper deals with investigation of safety for lightning protection of high structures. It has been also put forth that rolling – sphere method have advantageous and disadvantageous of have been analysed. Designing an air-termination system has shown that the graphical method of the "rolling sphere" is a powerful analysis in studying globally the interactions both among the structures on the roof of the same object and among the structures of surrounding technological installations, and constructions.
