A necessidade de expansao em direcao ao interior da parte setentrional do Brasil, no final do seculo XIX, levou o governo a estruturar um orgao tecnico, nas primeiras decadas do seculo XX, a fim de estudar as potencialidades da regiao, cujos dados se converteram em mapas, que deram base as obras contra os efeitos das longas estiagens. Desvelar a aplicacao do conhecimento tecnico-cientifico contido numa representacao cartografica, na definicao e no dominio do territorio nordestino e o objetivo deste trabalho. Para tanto, analisa-se tres pecas graficas confeccionadas pela Inspetoria de Obras Contra as Secas – IOCS –, entre 1910 a 1915, publicados na serie I-G, referente as regioes flageladas pelo fenomeno das “secas”. A confeccao do material cartografico carregou em si uma evolucao no conhecimento tecnico sobre o Nordeste e na efetivacao das obras realizadas pela Inspetoria, alem de representar o alcance e o controle do poder estatal.

Resumo:O propósito deste texto é apresentar o conceito de Museu Difuso que tem como ponto de partida o modelo e a experiência italianas do Museo Diffuso (na zona da Valle del Liri ao longo da histórica linha ferroviária Roccasecca-Avezzano), e aplicá-lo ao contexto português no intuito de elaborar uma estratégia para preservar e desenvolver o território.O território escolhido é a Linha do Oeste o que logo nos remete para a presença de uma linha ferroviária. Este artículo revisa la influyente interpretación de Leslie Bethell sobre la no pertenencia de Brasil a América Latina durante el primer siglo después de la independencia. Al implementar una metodología informada por las historias conectadas y el giro espacial, destaca la importancia de las prácticas transnacionales dentro de la región, sobre todo la prensa escrita y los viajes. El argumento resultante es radical: Brasil no era menos parte de América Latina-entendida aquí como un espacio concreto de interacción y una identidad-que cualquier país hispanoamericano. Además, Brasil desempeñó un papel fundamental en su creación.

Brazil and “Latin America” Revisited: Turning the Question on its Head
This article revisits the influential narrative of Leslie Bethell concerning Brazil’s non-belonging in Latin America during the first century after independence. Deploying a methodology informed by connected histories and the spatial turn, it highlights the importance of transnational practices within the region, above all the print press and travel. The resulting argument is radical: Brazil was no less a part of Latin America—understood here as a concrete space of interaction and identity—than any Spanish American country. Furthermore, Brazil played a pivotal role in its making.

Este artigo tem como objetivo estudar o mercado de trabalho com o olhar de genero, no Brasil e na Italia e resgatar a conjuntura socio-economica da decada de 1990 onde a alta presenca de mulheres e acompanhada pela fragilidade de sua insercao e pela persistencia de obstaculos para elas acederem “integralmente” aos  direitos. Doğuştan eksiklik ya da savaş, hastalık ve kaza gibi sebepler neticesinde bir uzvun kaybedilmesi insanın hayatını kendi başına devam ettiremeyecek duruma gelmesine neden olabilir. Dolayısıyla insanlar, tarih boyunca uzuvlarının yerine iş görebilecek yapay uzuvlar aradılar. Bu hususta kimi zaman basit tahta parçaları ve kanca eller, kimi zaman da statülerini korumak için görkemli ve ince işçilikli protezler kullandılar. Yalnızca kol ve bacak gibi ekstremite protezleri değil tarihleri çok eskiye dayanan takma göz ve diş gibi diğer protezler de kullandılar. Ortopedik engelli bireyler mevcut eksikliğin giderilmesi için kullandıkları yapay uzuvlar sayesinde hem hareket kabiliyetlerini geri kazanmaya çalıştılar hem de toplumdaki yerlerini korumayı hedeflediler. Geçmişte özgün ve daha basit protez örneklerine rastlanmakla birlikte protezlerin modern anlamda gelişim sürecinin Ambroise Paré ile başladığı görülmektedir.
Savaşlar, yetişkin erkeklerin engelli kalmasına yol açarak kendilerinin ve ailelerinin hayatlarını geçindirme zorluğu yaşamalarına neden olmuştur. Dolayısıyla protezlerin modernleşmesi hususunda daha kullanışlı tasarımların yapılması ve yeni malzemelerin kullanılması söz konusu olmuştur. Binaenaleyh protez şirketleri kıyas kabul etmez şekilde artış göstermiştir.
Modern protezlerin sıklıkla kullanılmaya başlandığı 19. yüzyıl aynı zamanda Osmanlıların da modernleşme hususunda adım attıkları bir döneme denk gelmektedir. Askeri, siyasi ve teknolojik olarak gelişmek isteyen Osmanlı Devleti, sağlık alanında da mühim adımlar atmıştır. Özellikle II. Abdülhamid’in saltanatında birçok hastane açılırken tıp dünyasındaki keşifler de dikkatle takip edilmiştir. Bu teknolojik yeniliklerden biri olan modern protezler bilhassa da kol ve bacak protezleri gerek sıradan vatandaşlar için gerekse malûl askerler için devlet tarafından sağlanmıştır. Başlangıçta yurtdışından ve İstanbul’daki yabancı tedarikçilerden sipariş edilen ekstremite protezleri II. Abdülhamid’in de desteği ile Tersane-i Amire ve Tophane-i Amire gibi önemli teknik merkezlerde üretilmeye başlanmıştır. Üretimin sağlanması hususunda yurtdışında işbirliği sağlanan atölyeye bahsi geçen kurumlardan öğrenci gönderilmiştir. 1890’lardan itibaren gazilere, muhtaç olan kimselere ve görevi başında iş kazası geçiren kişilere masrafları atıyye-i seniyye ve sadaka-i padişahi bütçelerinden karşılanmak üzere protezler üretilmiştir. Devletin yanı sıra Hilâl-i Ahmer Cemiyeti de özellikle Balkan Savaşları ile I. Dünya Savaşı’nda malûl kalan askerler için protez tedarik etmiştir.
Tez, protezlerin dünya tarihindeki seyrini örnekler ile açıklayıp daha sonra asıl odak noktayı yani Osmanlı Devleti’ndeki modern ekstremite protezlerinin hareketliliğini anlatmayı hedeflemektedir. Bu hususta öncelikle Osmanlı Devleti’nde protezlerin hangi vakalar sonucunda ortaya çıktığı ve padişah tarafından ilgi duyulmasında hangi hususların etkili olduğu açıklanmış, daha sonra engelli bireylerin devlet destekli protezlerine ulaşma serüvenleri aktarılmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti ile işbirliği içinde protez üreten şahıs ile kurumlar, protezlerin gelişimine etkisi olan olaylarla ilişkileri çerçevesinde ve kronolojik bir düzlemde ele alınmıştır. Bu hususta yurtdışından sipariş edilen protezler, yurtdışına gönderilen öğrenciler ve İstanbul’da protez imalathanesi açılma girişimi ayrıntılı bir şekilde verilmiştir. Tezde protez imalatında kullanılan makineler, aletler ve malzemeler de arşiv belgeleri ışığında ortaya konulmuştur. Ele alınan bir diğer önemli husus, protezlerin ücreti meselesidir. Ücretler imal edilecek olan protezin boyutuna, kullanılan malzemenin niteliğine ve nerede yapıldığına göre belirlenmektedir.
Osmanlı Devleti’nden engelli kişilerin arzuhal yazarak modern ekstremite protezleri talep ettiği görülmektedir. Taleplerin hangi koşullarda devlet tarafından kabul edildiği hangi koşullarda edilmediği ve nasıl bir yol izlendiği de tezin netliğe kavuşturduğu konulardan biridir. Tüm bu süreçler arşiv belgelerine yansıyan örneklerle ortaya konulmuştur. Tezin üzerinde durduğu konulardan bir diğeri de savaşların modern protezlerin gelişimindeki etkisidir. Osmanlı Devleti’nin ve Hilâl-i Ahmer Cemiyeti’nin gazilerin protezlerine kavuşmaları konusunda hassasiyeti bulunduğu görülmektedir. Bu durum da tezde ayrıntılı bir biçimde incelenmiştir. Tez, II. Abdülhamid döneminde başlayan ve Osmanlı Devleti’nin son yıllarında da devam ettirilen dönemi kapsamaktadır. Bu süreç, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Osmanlı Arşivi ve Kızılay Arşivi başta olmak üzere dönemin yerli ve yabancı gazete ile dergilerinden ve yıllıklar incelenerek ortaya konulmuştur.

In the years between 1883 and 1914, women of the Wednesday Club of St. Louis and the Chicago Woman's Club embarked on a series of neighborhood planning initiatives. Their initiatives encouraged the formation of cross-class coalitions of residents, reformers, and city officials; the cultivation of neighborhood identity; and the formation of democratic public spaces. Club women's vision of the city as a conglomeration of smaller neighborhood units challenged the dominant practices of urban development and contributed to citywide debates over urban planning. By identifying the voice of women's collective activism in discussions of municipal responsibility, citizenship, and urban design, this article provides insight into women's local planning efforts and their relationship to urban development.

The issue of impulse development of cities caused by different infrastructural factors is considered. It has been determined that rapid development of urban planning structure which occurred over a short period of time can be viewed as an effective urban planning impulse, with the exception of the following conditions, when they: a) did not lead to sustainable results, b) did not solve the basic problems of life support; c) originated from the modernist legacy of total urban planning, which considered the possibility of creating a large urban structure from scratch, based on a one-time master plan).  According to the history of their development, urban structures fall into two major categories: evolutionary and impulse-based. This paper deals with the site of the old hospital in Topol'cany, which is listed among Slovakia's national cultural sites. It combines selected historical and ethnological approaches to the research of the site and its structures with the aim of capturing its historical and ethnological links and values within an urban environment. The paper is an output of a scientific project featuring the cooperation of several scientific and research institutions which are active in the technical, social, and human sciences.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o silenciamento e isolamento cultural e geografico pelo qual passa uma parte da cidade. Neste texto, iremos analisar o caso do bloco “Cacique de Ramos”, que neste  ano de 2020 foi novamente “cancelado” por outra parte da cidade que ve em seu discurso politicamente correto motivo suficiente para atacar um bloco que resgata a cultura indigena e comemora a renovacao de nossas mesclas e convivencias. Bentuknya biasanya memanjang ke belakang, dengan tanbahan disamping bangunan utama dan bagian depan (orang bugis menyebutnya lego – lego). Dalam pembangunan rumah bugis, ukuran panjang, lebar dan tinggi rumah selalu dihubungkan dengan bagian-bagian badan manusia. In the aftermath of the Shoah and the ostensible triumph of nationalism, it became common in historiography to relegate Jews to the position of the “eternal other” in a series of binaries: Christian/Jewish, Gentile/Jewish, European/Jewish, non-Jewish/Jewish, and so forth. For the longest time, these binaries remained characteristic of Jewish historiography, including in the Central European context. Assuming instead, as the more recent approaches in Habsburg studies do, that pluriculturalism was the basis of common experience in formerly Habsburg Central Europe, and accepting that no single “majority culture” existed, but rather hegemonies were imposed in certain contexts, then the often used binaries are misleading and conceal the complex and sometimes even paradoxical conditions that shaped Jewish life in the region before the Shoah.

The very complexity of Habsburg Central Europe both in synchronic and diachronic perspective precludes any singular historical narrative of “Habsburg Jewry,” and it is not the intention of this volume to offer an overview of “Habsburg Jewish history.” The selected articles in this volume illustrate instead how important it is to reevaluate categories, deconstruct historical narratives, and reconceptualize implemented approaches in specific geographic, temporal, and cultural contexts in order to gain a better understanding of the complex and pluricultural history of the Habsburg Empire and the region as a whole.

This article aims to analyse several military plans and engravings found in the archives and libraries of Vienna, which illustrate and describe the phases of the battle that took place on 22 March 1788 near Botoșani town. The battle was fought between the Austrian troops, commanded by Colonel Michael von Fabri, and the Ottoman troops, commanded by Ibrahim Nazir Pasha. While the battle was not a significant event, its outcome had strategic consequences as it opened up new supply opportunities and hastened the defeat of the Turks at Hotin. The conflict has a particular resonance for the history of Moldavia and Botosani town, as it represents the first clash in the military campaign of 1788, which resulted in the occupation of the capital of Moldavia, the city of Iași, and a large part of this principality by Austrian and Russian troops.
Apart from establishing the military context that led to the creation of the plans and engravings, this article also highlights other aspects obtained from the research of these sources. These include updating bibliographical references, completing technical details, identifying the authors, and analysing the topography of the area and the urban structure of Botoșani town.

In the final decades of the 19th century Nagyvárad became a progressive, dominant town in the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s Kingdom of Hungary. The town’s prosperity overlapped with the emergence of the Hungarian civil institutional system, the founding of modern parliamentarism. The question is whether the town played a role in the new Hungarian House of Representatives in proportion to its weight or not. To what extent did Nagyvárad have the opportunity to be represented in accordance with its interests? The study reviews the role of Nagyvárad in the House of Representatives from two perspectives. The first is that the city is represented by only one person in the House of Representatives consisting of 413 (later 415) members. We examine to what extent Nagyvárad stands out from the other towns with a single mandate (Arad, Temesvár, Hódmezővásárhely, Kassa, Pécs, Győr, etc.) and to what extent it would fit with towns with several mandates (Debrecen, Kolozsvár, Miskolc, Marosvásárhely, ...

In the middle of the 16 th century the conflict between councils and seafaring guilds spread from one end of the Cantabrian coast to the other. The economic power gained from fishing and trade increased the influence of the heads of the brotherhoods who also sometimes appeared as leaders of part of the town or even of the commons. This was a challenge to the local autorithies so these confrontations were a form of struggle for hegemony.
A mediados del siglo XVI el conflicto entre concejos y cofradías de mareantes se extendió de un extremo a otro de la costa del Cantábrico. El poder económico derivado de la pesca y del comercio acrecía el influjo de los responsables de estas cofradías que también aparecían a veces como dirigentes de parte de la villa o incluso del común de ella. Esto suponía un desafío a las autoridades locales por lo que estos enfrentamientos eran una forma de lucha por la hegemonía.
