Kapitola pojednává o jménech Přemyslovců objevujících se v místních jménech v Čechách a na Moravě. Věnuje se také proměnám místních jmen v období kolonizace v okolí slezského kláštera Henrykówa.

The chapter deals with the names of the Přemyslids appearing in toponyms in Bohemia and Moravia. It also deals with the transformation of toponyms around the Henrykow Monastery in Silesia during the colonization period.

V članku je predstavljen kratek povzetek predavanja. V prostoru okoli nas se prepletajo vidni del (narava, prostor), nevidni del (energije, kačje črte) ter naša preteklost. Prostor je sestavljen tudi iz svetih mest v naravi, megalitov, tičnic, tročanov, staroselske arhitekture in nesnovne dediščina. Vse to potrjuje, da živimo na enem izmed najbolj čarobnih delov sveta, imenovanem Slovenija.

This contribution analyses all current etymologies of the Italian and dialectal toponym Polesine, trying to show their main weaknesses. Moreover, Edoardo Scarpanti presents a new etymology, which is based on a wide range of correspondences, and relates to the Germanic root *pōl-, i.e. “swamp, marsh”.

La ricerca toponomastica applicata alla ricerca storico-urbanistica rappresenta un valido strumento per diverse branche del sapere.

La contrada Marchegiani o Marcheggiani viene chiamata dal popolo 'a le Marchesciane', famiglia stanziata a Pianella tra il XVIII ed il XIX secolo che ha dato il nome, toponimo alla Fontana e ad una contrada di Pianella.

Phantom islands are falsely mapped islands that turned out non-existent. This paper examines the histories and the etymologies of the names of Bermeja, Hy Brasil, and Sandy Island. Appearing cartographically since 1539, Bermeja's 'undiscovery' blocked Mexico's ownership of an oil-rich section of the Gulf of Mexico. Hy Brasil appeared first in 1330 maps and became falsely associated with Irish mythology. Sandy Island, near New Caledonia, was officially 'unfound' most recently in 2012, but existed on maps since 1908. This paper also examines the residential cruise liner The World, a manmade floating 'island' challenging our notion of place. Though not 'real', these islands exist as hope - Bermeja, a hope for power, Hy Brasil, a hope for a divine land, and Sandy Island and The World, a hope for the unknown. In a largely known, familiar world, discovery is not exploring the new, but revisiting the old; not uncovering what we do not know, but undiscovering what we do.

Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti il, ilçe, kasaba, mahalle, köy ve mevki isimleri, üzerinde önemle çalışılması gerekli atanlardır. Çünkü Kıbrıs yer adları, birçok medeniyetin yaşamına yönelik ipuçları vermektedir. Osmanlı Türk idaresi de, fiilen 307 yıl idaresi altında bulundurduğu bu yerlerde önemli
etkiler bırakmıştır. Türk dili ve kültürüne ait birçok unsur, Osmanlı Türk idaresi vasıtasıyla ülkede yayılmış ve bugünlere uzanmıştır. Osmanlı Türk idaresi döneminden başlayarak adaya göç eden Türkler, yeni kurdukları yerleşim birimlerine Türkçe adlar vermişlerdir. Bu Türkçe yer adları, yeni bir
kültür dairesi içerisinde yaşamaya çalışan halkın nazarında önemli bir yer tutar. Kuzey Kıbrıs ' taki il, ilçe ve köy adları, bir diğer çalışmamızda incelenerek kitaplaştırılmıştır. Ancak bu adlar dışında kalan ve tarihi nitelik kazanmış olan bölge ve mevki adları, üzerinde çokça çalışılmayan konular arasındadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı döneminden bu yana Türkçe yapısını koruyan yer adlarını belli başlıklar altında tasnif etmek ve konunun önemine dikkati çekmektir.

The paper provides a survey of the settlement names used in the municipality of Kiili, Harju county. As a regional study it is intended to become a brick in the foundation for more general studies covering the whole language area. The material for the study comes from the place name archives of the Institute of the Estonian Language. Besides the list of Kiili settlement names the study contains an analysis of the date and origin of the names, as well as their parallel names and structure. The names have been dated using some sources from 1241–1875. The analysis revealed that since the mid-19th century the proportion of anthroponymic names has considerably dropped and that of non-anthroponymic ones has increased while especially many recent farm names derive from the names of natural objects. One might assume that the steep drop in the number of anthroponymic farm names is due to liberation from serfdom; removal of peasants from estate property while keeping lands and buildings, created a need for naming the farms that earlier used to be called by the names of their owners, resp. families. Recent farm names often originated in natural names, secondary names, master’s surnames, or, more rarely, first names. Twenty per cent of farms had parallel names, whereas of the settlements only twelve per cent had parallel names. By structure the settlement names studied were classified into simple names and compound names. The simple names included abstracted names, names with a locative or collective suffix, and term names. The compound names were classified by the number of components, as well as by parts of speech. The study also deals with irregular shortening, group transition, folk etymology, adaptation, and a few dialectal features in Kiili settlement names.

Since the mid-19th century many artificial languages (henceforth ALs) have been created in order to facilitate international communication and understanding; the best known of these is Esperanto. The vocabularies of these languages often include names of countries, cities, and other places; the number of such names depends on how developed the languages are (or were), and the particular names created depended on how salient the places which they referred to were to the language designers (and their audiences).

Until recently, Azerbaijan was not very familiar to most people in Europe and North America (where most AL designers lived) and was not discussed much in media there. As a result, while many ALs have words for e.g. ‘France’ and ‘United States’, relatively few have words for ‘Azerbaijan’, and perhaps even fewer have words for places in Azerbaijan such as ‘Baku’ and ‘Nakhchivan’. If such places, particularly more obscure ones, are mentioned in writing in ALs, they may use forms of their names which were not changed to conform to the morphological requirements of the AL. For example, the Esperanto Wikipedia categories page for “cities of Azerbaijan” (https://eo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategorio:Urboj_de_Azerbajĝano) gives Baku and Sumgait in their Esperantized forms, with the nominal suffix -o (Bakuo and Sumgaito respectively), but does not do this for Lankaran (as it uses the form Lenkoran).

Establishing the origin and dating of the palatalization of the CA and GA clusters in the Rhaeto-Romance languages and in the Cisalpine area is one of the most debated problems in Romance linguistics, also because of the classificatory implications ascribed to this phonetic mutation. In 1958 the Slovene romanist Anton Grad suggested a ‘low’ dating (XII-XIV centuries) for such palatalization in Friulian, on the basis of the loan words present in western Slovene dialects. However, on the basis of toponomastic data and other interlinguistic considerations, it is possible to predate the palatalization of the CA and GA in the Friulian area before the year 1000.

Данная дипломная работа посвящена микротопонимике Осло, а именно анализу названий улиц, площадей, районов и других внутригородских объектов столицы Норвегии с точки зрения их этимологии, грамматики и отражения в них культурных особенностей страны. Цель работы состоит в том, чтобы выявить основные принципы номинации улиц в Осло, рассказать о структуре названий, а также о правилах и закономерностях, которые определяют грамматическую форму и способ написания микротопонимов в Осло. Отдельно исследованы неофициальные топонимы Осло, которые являются особенно ярким примером того, как ассоциативные связи влияют на номинацию. В работе также приведен краткий обзор языковых реформ, повлиявших на написание названий топонимических объектов в Норвегии, и объяснены их причины.

Street names (odonyms) and their academic study constitute an important part of onomastic research. This paper takes stock of the growing literature on street naming processes and provides a meta-analytical systematic review of odonymic scholarship. To this purpose, a collection of 121 peer-reviewed articles on street names published in English language academic journals in the social sciences and the humanities were identified in the Scopus database. The statistical analyses conducted on these materials indicate (1) the temporal dynamics of knowledge production and the geographical hotspots in toponomastic scholarship, (2) the geopolitical settings and historical contexts framing these studies, (3) the theoretical perspectives employed to conceptualise street naming practices, and (4) the methodological outlines characterising the research done on street names in the literature. The conclusions point out four main clusters of toponomastic research and indicate directions for future inquiry in street name scholarship.

El estudio histórico de la toponimia de una zona consiste esencialmente en determinar la etimología de cada topónimo, es decir, señalar la raíz —o étimo— del que procede, junto con el significado original de dicha raíz, y aclarar las peripecias de su evolución hasta hoy. Para garantizar la fiabilidad de la solución propuesta, la cientificidad requiere que cada etimología cumpla las siguientes cinco condiciones o puntos de verificación, y en la medida en que no lo haga, tendrá menores probabilidades de ser correcta. Debe poder demostrarse:
1) La presencia de la lengua: que la lengua o dialecto al que pertenece la raíz propuesta se hablaba en el lugar cuando se creó el topónimo.
2) La existencia de la raíz: que el étimo que se postula como origen del topónimo existía en aquella lengua en aquel momento. 
3) La idoneidad semántica: que el significado del étimo es determinado, y adecuado para un topónimo.  Es un punto a favor, aunque no imprescindible, que el significado refleje alguna característica del lugar.
4) La compatibilidad documental: que la hipótesis encaja con las antiguas formas documentadas y la pronunciación actual del nombre.
5) La viabilidad lingüística: que si se somete la raíz a la cadena de cambios fonéticos diacrónicos esperados, se obtiene como resultado el nombre actual.
Para la toponimia creada en los últimos siglos es relativamente fácil cumplir con estas exigencias y ofrecer etimologías seguras. Pero a medida que retrocedemos en el tiempo, la información disponible empieza a escasear, hasta el extremo de que, para los períodos más arcaicos, casi la única fuente de información que tenemos sobre aspectos probatorios claves (como las lenguas habladas en el lugar, las raíces disponibles y las normas de evolución fonética) son los propios topónimos que queremos analizar. De hecho, uno de los aspectos más útiles del estudio de la toponimia es precisamente la información que aporta sobre períodos para los cuales no tenemos más fuentes fiables que la arqueología. Pero ¿cómo ofrecer garantías de cientificidad en tales circunstancias?
La respuesta es que, cuando falten pruebas independientes de cualquiera de los cinco puntos de verificación, se podrá aducir como testimonio la existencia de otros topónimos que demuestran, en circunstancias similares, los mismos rasgos o evolución que el nombre bajo escrutinio. L' "Archivio dei nomi di luogo del territorio di Carbonate" (2015, 96 pp e una carta a colori 34x48cm) è uno studio completo nato da ricerche d'archivio e interviste sul campo che raccoglie 190 toponimi in italiano e milanese, relative al nucleo storico e al territorio agricolo e boschivo del Comune comasco, contestualizzandoli geograficamente e storicamente e con tentativi di descrizione etimologica.
Un'opera resasi necessaria per la salvaguardia del patrimonio immateriale di una Comunità. Il volume è in distribuzione presso il Comune di Carbonate.

The project of this thesis is topically and methodologically based on Hydronymia Slovaciae, a project being composed by Slovak linguists whose aim is to exhaustively map Slovak hydronymy according to individual instructions and which is a part of all European composition of hydronymy Hydronymia Europaea. This thesis applies individual instructions to Czech environment, particularly the Ostravice river drainage basin (Moravian-Silesian Region). Its aim is to bring a complete description of hydronymy, and therefore the names of watercourses (streams, rivers), water areas (dams, lakes, ponds, tarns), water sources and waterfalls in the Ostravice drainage basin from the synchronous and diachronous points of view. The subjects of the research are thus historical and contemporary toponyms of the river basin, which are examined from the following perspectives: lexical basis, toponymic models and also historical one. This article discusses the account of the settlement of Þórsnes by Þórólfr Mostrarskegg as it is presented in Eyrbyggja saga, relating it to the question of the applicability of current thinking on landscape to the interpretation of Old Norse literature. While current approaches both to landscape in general and to the construction of the landscape of Þórsnes in Eyrbyggja saga in particular tend to emphasise the function of ‘landscape’ as a medium conveying existential ‘meanings’, a close reading of the literary landscape of Þórsnes in Eyrbyggja saga rather suggests that much of the literary construction of this landscape should be seen as consciously grotesque and intended to be understood as  such by the saga’s contemporary audience. Central for this reading is an interpretation of the place-name Dritsker as meaning “Guano Skerry”. This translation is suggested by the lexical evidence but has been avoided by previous critics, who chose to adapt their interpretations
of the place-name to the story told about it in the saga and thus missed an arguably central clue for the interpretation of the saga episode. Some thoughts are also offered on the reasons for why a thirteenth-century author, perhaps working in the monastery at Helgafell, might have chosen to present the past of this area in a purposefully grotesque fashion.

Resumo Este traballo presenta unha análise do  topónimo "O Preguntoiro" como exemplo do uso dunha metodoloxía apoiada na observación dos padróns xeográficos, de cara á identificación do significado e, máis importante aínda, da motivación dos topónimos relacionados.

Abstract This paper presents an analysis o the interesting toponym "O Preguntoiro" as example of the usage of a methodology supported in the observation of the geographical patterns that follow the related toponyms, in order to identify the meaning of such toponyms and, still more important, their motivation.

В пособии излагаются современные представления по основным направлениям топонимики. Рассматриваются существующие схемы классификации топонимов, анализируется разнообразие топонимических фактов и явлений, их роль в современном мире.
The textbook provides the current views on toponymic studies' main directions, including toponymy in the system of sciences, the history and the development of scientific thought in this area of studies, and the principles and methods of science. The existing classification schemes of toponyms are considered. Different toponymic facts and phenomena and their role in the modern world are analyzed. Along with the critical theoretical and methodological components of the course, the regional toponymic overview is included.

The aim of this paper is the etymological reconstruction of three Italian place names from the current regions of Piedmont and Liguria (North-Western Italy). The toponyms analyzed in this study, Vinchio (Piedmont), Laigueglia (Liguria), and Lingueglietta (Liguria), allow the assessment of epistemological issues connected with the dynamics pre-Indo-European / proto-Indo-European in the reconstruction of European Hydronymy and Toponymy. Vinchio and Lingueglietta, in particular, offer the opportunity to evaluate possible common etymologies both hypothesizing pre-Indo-European origins and analyzing their original naming process according to an eminently Indo-European approach. Some Indo-European place names whose etymology is debated and difficult to be ascertained and established can find in a possible pre-Indo-European substratum a plausible, effective reconstruction. However, the impossibility to explain a toponymic etymology according to Indo-European phonetics does not necessarily mean that the origins of a place name can be found in an undefined 'pre-Indo-European' time. The present work reconstructs etymologies for Laigueglia, Vinchio, and Lingueglietta, highlighting links among the place names and paretymologies that have survived over centuries, in an effort to shed some light on the remote origins of these possibly prehistoric place names.

Книга представляет собой первую часть монографии,
посвященной одной из самых сложных проблем отечественной
топономастики – происхождению субстратных географических
названий Русского Севера, дискуссия о которых продолжается уже
почти два столетия. Первая часть монографии (I) содержит введение, общую характеристику субстратной топонимии, описание формантов. Во второй части (II) этимологизируются основы топонимов и характеризуются лингвоэтнические пласты субстратной топонимии.

This research is dedicated to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, were provided the toponymy’s images of the coast of the Black and Azov Seas are shown, which are indicated on medieval handwritten sea maps, the so-called "portolan charts", XIV-XVII centuries. The edition is supplemented with up to 394 portolan charts from more 770 known one that has survived for the present day, covering the region of the Black Sea. Each toponym is described and localized on modern maps, statistical, chronological, cartographic, toponymic and historical characteristics of each toponym are presented. Compared with the first edition, the analysis of place names in writing was more complete, without taking into account the strong geo-referencing - the toponym was taken into account in the area of its usual location in most charts. The analysis was carried out using mathematical methods of research and software developed by A. Tereshchenko. A separate chapter is devoted to the analysis of names of areas and names of seas in this region. The results of the methodology for comparing and analyzing portolan charts based on the identity coefficient proposed in the first edition. As a result, a forecast is presented for each chart at the period of time and place of creation, including charts with signs and dates. Finally, summary lists of toponyms, names of area and names of seas are given, including an analysis of their application in the portolan charts understudy

Türkiye toponomik örneklerinden faydalanarak çıkarsamalar yapmak.

*  Antik İnegöl'e isnat edilen Angelocoma adının geçtiği en eski yazılı kaynakların irdelenmesi, araştırmaların bunu doğrulamadığını ve belgelerin bu ismin Ortaçağda Türkçeden bozma yönünde olduğunun düşünülmesi ile Antik dönemde İnegöl yerleşiminin kuvvetle muhtemel adının Linoe olduğu yönünde birtakım belgelerin sunulması.
* Bu güne kadar tespit edebildiğimiz kadarıyla İnegöl Cumatepe Höyük merkezli 50 km'lik bir etki alanı çapında, harita üzerinde, dönemsel olarak arkeolojik yerleşimlerin işaretlenmesi ve bunların ortaya çıkarılmış büyüklüklerinin incelenmesi. Bunlardan nitelik ve nicelik yönüyle önemli olanlarının sunulması ve coğrafi havzasında bu yerleşimlerin bulunduğu, antik İnegöl Kavramının bunları teşmil edecek şekliyle değerlendirilmesi.
  Sonuç olarak İnegöl Türkçe kökenli bir yer adı olmakla beraber bir takım ortaçağ belgelerinde Linoe adının tam da İnegöl civarıyla örtüşmesi bu adın Türkçeye değişimini doğruluyor. Arkeolojik zaman dilimleri incelendiğinde, Prehistorik çağ yerleşimini hariç tutar isek;  coğrafi şartların, savunma, barınma, temel ihtiyaçlara ulaşma gibi unsurlarında göz önüne alındığında İnegöl'ü çevreleyen özellikle Uludağ yamaçlarının ve korunaklı hakim bölgelerin insan toplulukları tarafından yerleşim olarak İnegöl merkezi hilafına tercih edildiğini ve İnegöl'ün ancak Osmanlı devrinin sonlarında (19.yy)  kentçiğe dönüştüğünü görmekteyiz. Bugün bir sanayi kenti olan, bir çok alanda katma değer yaratan nüfusu ve etki alanı Türkiye ölçeğinde önemli düzey de olan İnegöl, Bithynia Bölgesini ele geçirmiş çeşitli uygarlıklar döneminde ve Türk hâkimiyetine geçmeden son Bizans çağında bugünün ölçeğinde küçük bir köy yerleşimi idi. İnegöl için merkezde kurulmuş önemli bir antik kentten söz edemeyiz.

Gli agiotoponimi friulani San(t) Andrat e San Tomat e i veneti Santandrà, Sandrà, San Tomà  conservano traccia della flessione nominale latina in -ās/āti- che integrava nel sistema tardo-latino elementi allotri, in particolare gli antroponimi d’origine greca (o mediati dal greco) terminanti in -ās, come Andreās, Cosmās, Thōmās, Babylās ecc. Le attestazioni tardo-antiche e mediolatine documentano tale uso, che si fossilizzò nei toponimi: es. 539 fundum ... Andreatis ... praepositi, 745 ex dictatu Andreati refer(endarii), 746 p(er) Andreatem, 747 ex d(ictatu) Andreatis, ecc.

redatto nel 1753. Il territorio censito comprendeva allora, oltre alle tre Parrocchie del paese, Santa Maria, San Nicola e San Maurizio, anche Villa Santa Croce, Villa San Vittorino, Villa Sant' Eufemia, Villa San Giacomo e Villa Ricciardo, le ultime tre riunite-nel 1863-a formare il comune di Sant' Eufemia a Maiella. Un territorio ampio e articolato nel quale si è riscontrata una mole notevole ed assai interessante di denominazioni di luogo, alcune ancora presenti oggi, altre invece, ormai scomparse da tempo. Esse sono importanti perché ci forniscono, in una lettura trasversale, molte informazioni di varia natura: innanzitutto notizie che riguardano la lingua e le sue varie sovrapposizioni derivanti dalle parlate dei popoli che qui si sono avvicendati ma anche storiche, antropiche e sociali; possono inoltre aiutarci a ricostruire le caratteristiche della conformazione geografica del posto e i cambiamenti avvenuti nel tempo; possono parlarci degli elementi vegetazionali o faunistici predominanti anche quando con il passare del tempo essi sono cambiati. Ho già avuto modo di scrivere recentemente in un lavoro sulla toponomastica di Pietranico che: "Esaminare i nomi di luogo di un posto, specialmente quelli antichi, non è attività superflua perché, oltre a scoprire l'evoluzione, i cambiamenti e le stratificazioni linguistiche che vi possono essere stati nel corso dei secoli e che vi si sono fossilizzati, si possono anche scovare informazioni fondamentali per ricostruire la storia stessa di quel luogo o per meglio interpretarla" 1. I toponimi del Catasto onciario di Caramanico sono di vario tipo, si va da quelli riferiti a personaggi a quelli che invece rivelano un'attività dell'uomo sul territorio, da quelli che riguardano gli aspetti relativi alla presenza di animali o piante specifici a quelli che palesano antichi culti o aspetti orografici. Proprio questi ultimi, ovvero i nomi da geomorfismi, sono quelli che più di ogni altro sembrano essere preponderanti e se si analizzano nel loro insieme ci restituiscono, in maniera capillare, un territorio assai articolato come è quello di Caramanico e della restante zona dell'alta Valle dell'Orta, tra Maiella e Morrone; un territorio fatto di fossati, colli (solo di nomi sorretti dalla forma 'colle' ve ne sono più di trenta esempi), e altre zone frastagliate così come sono pure abbondanti quelli da idronimi che rinviano invece all'acqua, soprattutto sorgiva, denotando la forte presenza di questo elemento tra fontane, sorgenti vere e proprie, territori acquitrinosi ecc.. Di seguito si propone un breve excursus delle varie tipologie riscontrate con gli esempi più interessanti. Come in tutte le denominazioni del passato, assai ricorrenti sono gli agiotoponimi che rinviano alla presenza di luoghi di culto e testimoniano particolari devozioni della gente del posto; nell'Onciario di Caramanico sono cospicui, segno che il posto, come gli altri della Maiella, ha da sempre rappresentato un luogo previlegiato per la riflessione religiosa e il culto divino; la Maiella è stata apostrofata domus dei: gli eremi e 1 In Il dialetto e la toponomastica di Pietranico in Abruzzo. SUMMARY. This paper deals with processing and classification of papers published in the publication Onomatološki prilozi (I–XXI) during the period from 1979 to 2011, related to the onomastic material collected on the current territory of the Republic of Serbia. Papers were classified into three groups: anthroponymic, toponymic and onomastic (those referring to all of the onyms on some areas, such as the names of people and place names). It was noticed that the presentation of onomastic material there is an established order of onymic groups. Some authors deal only with the presentaton and analysis of the onomastic material, some add to the paper dialectal characteristics, also anecdotes related to a specific name of a person or place, local legends etc. The geographical criterion of classification shows that most of the works presented material from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the South Eastern Serbia, which is due to the socio-historical factors.

Il presente lavoro intende essere, senza alcuna pretesa di esaustività, uno studio monografico sul dialetto e sulla toponimia dialettale di Scanno, comune di circa 1.700 abitanti situato nell’Appennino abruzzese in provincia dell’Aquila.
La ricerca si basa sull’analisi storico-etimologica dei nomi di luogo desunti in massima parte dalle tavolette in scala in 1:25000 dell’IGM (Istituto Geografico Militare). Questo contingente di nomi rientrante all’interno della toponimia ufficiale è stato integrato con toponimi raccolti attraverso inchieste condotte sul campo, in compagnia di Candido Nannarone, Antonio Carfagnini e Pasquale Caranfa, nell’estate del 2021.
Per quanto concerne la struttura del lavoro, esso è caratterizzato da un capitolo introduttivo (Capitolo Primo) dedicato ad un inquadramento generale del comune di Scanno e del suo dialetto. Nel capitolo seguente (Capitolo Secondo) sono riportate brevi note di metodo corredate dalle modalità di presentazione delle informazioni. Nel Terzo Capitolo, è stato inserito l’elenco in ordine alfabetico di tutti i 208 nomi di luogo raccolti e analizzati.
Per ultime sono allegate le Carte, che consistono in immagini satellitari del territorio comunale di Scanno; su di esse i numeri corrispondenti ai toponimi del corpus sono stati inseriti nella loro collocazione topografica più precisa possibile.
